Ladies, Lisa and I have some very exciting news to share with you before kicking off season two (yes, you read that right!) next Tuesday!

After taking the summer months off to spend time with friends and family, and to reevaluate where we are with the podcast, we've decided that we need to redefine The Charis Podcast.

Our main focus will still be on God's charis, His beautiful grace, that is. However, we've realized that our approach needs to be tw...

For the past couple of mornings I’ve been stuck at the beginning of chapter eight in the book of John. You know, the part where a woman who was caught in adultery was drug in front of Jesus by the Pharisees so that they could catch him in a trap and have a valid reason to bring charges against him. At first glance this story seems so simple. But as I read it over and over again, I’m completely captivated by the profound depth and truth that lies...

A couple of years ago, my husband and I hosted a low key bible study on Galatians for the young adults in our church at the time. It was so good for my soul, to gather together with others and dig into the Word, hearing the different perspectives and revelations that God gave each one of us. And the neat thing about this group is that we weren't following some big name somebody. We were simply reading Galatians, verse by verse, and letting God...

Dear Stay-at-Home Momma,

People are constantly scrutinizing us and asking what we do all day with so much ‘free’ time, as if all we do is sit lazily on the couch sipping tea while our children play contentedly at our feet. They look down their noses at us as if raising our children and keeping a home somewhat together isn’t enough, as if our worth comes from the amount of dollars we bring in.

Please, for all of our sakes, dust off their judgement.

After hearing so many good reviews on Lysa TerKeurst’s book, The Best Yes, I decided it was finally time to sit down and read the book instead of having it remain as just another book on my long To-Read list.

I can honestly say that I have no regrets picking up Lysa’s book. In fact, I had a really hard time putting it down and concentrating on completing all the things around the house that needed to be done, like cleaning the bathrooms, and prepp...

I don't know about you, but because we're so busy during the summer our snacks need to be transportable and able to survive without  refrigeration. And while health is an important factor to me (along with tasting yummy!), I came up with these delicious single serve cobblers that are easily baked and stored in mason jars.

Check out the recipe below!

6 - 8 ounce sized mason jars

1 cup unbleached flour

4 teaspoons dry sweetener, plus 3...

Tacos are my favourite quick company food! We almost always have ground beef on hand, and I just cook that up with some taco seasoning. Then I add whatever veggies I have on hand along with some grated cheese, and viola! A super easy, delicious meal that is easy to share!

Though you don't really need a set recipe for tacos, HERE is a variety of different taco ideas from Real Simple.

Since having children I've learned that I need to keep it more simple when it comes to hosting meals, and especially when it comes to desserts (because I'm a sucker for extravagant, scrumptious-looking desserts!). I simply don't have the time nor the energy any more to make a dessert that looks like it should be stared at, rather than eaten. This berry crumble is now my go-to dessert.

Not only is this crumble allergy-friendly (no gluten, no dairy)...

Mama, I get it. It’s hard to keep up with housework when there is an army of little people with endless amounts of energy making ten messes in the time it takes you to clean up one. I get how overwhelming it can be that day you realize that you haven’t showered in days and you’re house is a disaster. I get how that feeling of shame and guilt can punch you in the gut when someone makes a surprise visit and you have to admit that you actually don’t...

The first time my husband and I wrote a mission statement for our little family was while we were on a cruise ship sailing down the western coast towards San Diego. I was pregnant with our first at the time, and the idea of having a statement of sorts as to who I wanted our family to be, what I wanted our family to represent, kept going over and over in my mind.

While having a family mission statement isn’t a necessity, I honestly think that it’s...
